HOW IT WAS A YEAR AGO
Last year in Corvara, the ice-covered tower crowned those who were the favourites on the eve of the event. In the test of difficulty, Russian Maxim Tomilov won, ahead of Korean World Cup overall champion Hee Yong Park. Third place for another Russian, Alexey Tomilov, brother of the winner and world champion in this discipline. Among the women, South Tyrolean party, with the success of Angelika Rainer from Merano, fresh on the occasion of another title, the third in her career, of world champion. Rainer got the better of Korea's Woon Seon Shin, followed by what would become the winner of the World Cup, Russia's Maria Tolokonina. As for the sprint race, it was Russia that celebrated a flurry of successes in Corvara: in the men's field, everyone still remembers Pavel Gulyaev's high point, and among the women, victory for Maria Krasavina.
In less than a month there will be new verdicts and one certainty, right from the start: in Corvara it will still be pure spectacle.
