On 29 April 1886, Eugenio Fasana, a skilled mountaineer from Lombardy, was born in Gemonio (Va); in the first half of the 20th century, he was one of the most dynamic figures on the national mountaineering scene. He had over 120 first ascents to his name, spread across the entire Alpine range.
