On 9 August 1950, Mauro Corona was born in Baselga di Piné (Trentino), a mountaineer, sculptor and writer best known for his short stories and novels depicting life in the mountains. He also had a very active mountaineering career, having pioneered numerous routes in the Eastern Dolomites.
