Introduction

Description

Unusual and marvellous in its diversity, this central Italian region with its harmonious and sinuous shapes expresses its excellence in all its versions: cliffs and caves on unforgettable beaches, hills enveloping history, tradition and art, and mountains equipped with ski lifts for ski enthusiasts. The territory is predominantly hilly and mountainous, embracing the Adriatic side of the Umbria-Marches Apennines but with low, sandy beaches. How can we forget the long expanse of fine golden sand surrounded by crystal-clear water in Senigallia, full of bathing establishments and pleasant to walk along the seashore, perhaps at sunset. Not to be outdone are Gabicce mare, Pesaro, Fano, Civitanova Marche and San Benedetto del Tronto, which represent an answer for those who want to relax and find refreshment among the many bathing establishments, which were already fashionable among the upper middle class in the nineteenth century, while for those who love extreme nature, the Conero Riviera offers evocative scenery and still wild stretches, sometimes only reachable by sea or through paths cut into the green Mediterranean scrub. Nature in the Marche is a protected value with its national and regional parks and WWF oases to be discovered; the Monti Sibillini and Monti della Laga parks offer a unique spectacle for trekking enthusiasts. You cannot miss the Frasassi Caves, a destination for trips from all over Europe and of great speleological interest due to the karstic phenomenon that has created splendid caves, some of which have been inhabited since prehistoric times. Orchards and vineyards as far as the eye can see on the Picentine hills and in the Esino Valley surround farmhouses of ancient warmth where it is possible to rediscover the simple taste of genuine things. Manor houses or ancient mezzadrili houses converted into agritourism tell the story of times past.
