Introduction

To reach the Paradisia Alpine Botanical Garden in Cogne, in Valle d'Aosta, there are several options:
By car: From the SS26, take the regional road no. 47 at Aymavilles and continue towards the hamlet of Valnontey, which is 3 km from the town centre.
On foot: The garden is located in Valnontey, a hamlet of Cogne, in the heart of the Gran Paradiso National Park, at an altitude of 1700 metres. Visitors can reach the garden by following the paths from the village centre.
 

2. Once at the garden, you can take a free guided tour that takes place daily at 10.30 a.m., 2.30 p.m. and 4.30 p.m.
3. The garden is home to around 1,000 species of plants and flowers from the Alps and the Apennines, as well as examples of mountain flora from around the world, such as Europe and Asia.

Description

The Giardino Botanico Alpino Paradisia is an alpine nature reserve and botanical garden located at an altitude of 1700 metres in the Gran Paradiso National Park in Valnontey, Cogne, Valle d'Aosta, Italy[1]. It was founded in July 1955 and takes its name from the Greek word for paradise[2]. The garden is home to around 1,000 species of plants and flowers from the Alps and the Apennines, as well as some examples of flora from other mountain groups around the world[3]. It is a place of study and research, as well as a tourist attraction, and is open daily during the warmer months[1]. Guided tours are available daily at 10.30 am, 2.30 pm and 4.30 pm[2]. The garden is located in the heart of the Gran Paradiso National Park and is a unique place to admire Alpine flora and fauna[4]. It is a small paradise on earth in a unique environment, surrounded by the Gran Paradiso massif[6].
