Maderhütte

Introduction
The Maderhutte, which is currently closed, is situated on a scenic promontory overlooking the valley basin of Brig, with a view as far north as the glaciers of the Oberland and the peaks and valleys that extend from them to the south, while to the south it is closed off by the Punta Terrarossa and its south-west ridge. It can be reached without any difficulty and is recommended for those who appreciate walking in solitary areas that at the same time offer ample panoramic views.
Description
The path starts to the right of the Post hotel, where there is a marker at the end of the car park widening, and climbs up into the forest cutting a few hairpin bends; After passing another signpost and a beautiful hut on the left, continue to cut across the road and follow it for a few dozen metres until you come to a crossroads (1825 m), marked by a characteristic wooden signpost, where you turn right and climb up the path that rises a little steeply through the beautiful coniferous wood, crossing the dirt track that climbs it at several points. The track passes not far from a ski lift and, after numerous hairpin bends, arrives outside the forest on the road that bypasses a low grassy hump above which there is a restaurant; walking along the road, one heads towards the evident markers (2245 m) located on the meadows to the left next to a boulder where one continues towards the grassy bumps that lie in front and, having passed them, begins to climb up into the valley reaching a stony area. Cross it and climb up along a track that, coming off to the right, climbs up a morainic ridge above which you turn right again, cutting across the short slope between large boulders to reach the promontory where the panoramic hut is located.
