Schönegg
Access
We return up the Val di Non, passing Fondo in the direction of the Palade pass. Immediately after San Felice, turn right for the car park, which is soon reached.
Introduction
Easy loop through forests to the panoramic balcony offered by the Schonegg mountain.
Description
After leaving the car (1390m), climb a few more metres and then immediately turn left onto a path. You thus climb up again, after meeting a forestry road x a couple of times, to St. Mary's Lake (1604m). You pass the Waldruhe - resting place in the forest (1626m) and afterwards, going left twice, you reach Malga S. Felice (1630m). Afterwards, past a barrier, turn right to the turnoff to Moschen (always to the right). Beyond Moschen (1770 m) we follow the ridge with a few ups and downs until we reach the summit cross of the scenic Schonegg (1778 m - tot. 2h15).
Return 1h30: a little tedious along the Val d'Inferno, lonely and without a single useful stopping point. When you reach a road, go left uphill for a few minutes to descend to the right on an unmarked track which then connects to a wide farm track and the morning route. With hindsight, it was preferable to go the other way round: there would have been several benches and then from the lake you would have had more time to visit it, as well as two possible refreshments to choose from...
In summary: decent day's descent 400m Dif. T/E 10,5 km for approx. 3h45 Tot. (2h15 and 1h30 ret.) + all the breaks to see the various places you come across Average ride comfort: more than sufficient but at times good.
