Mount Zerbion Skyrace 22

Description

All the race routes (MZS 22 km, MZS 18 km, MZV 9.5 km 2200 d+, MZV 5.5 km 850 d+, MZ Randò, MZ Baby Skyrace) will have as starting point the "Piazza Volontari del Sangue" located in the centre of the village of Châtillon 540 m, from this point, for all routes except the MZ Randò and MZ Baby Skyrace you will then climb following the road of the Châtillon hill for about 1 km, shortly after the old "Maison Brunod" you will turn left following the path. Always following sections of the road of the hill and stretches of path you will arrive at the hamlet "Sounère", exactly where the "Rû de la Plaine" crosses the road of the hill, you will continue on the right in the flat towards the hamlet "Pissin" where you will pass in front of the old wine press, a little further (about 100 m) be careful, you will take on the left the path that goes up to the hamlet "Verlex" passing in the middle of the village with transit in front of the house of Bruno Brunod. You will arrive at the church in the hamlet of "La Tour", continue straight on through the hamlet and arrive at the top of the hamlet of "Lo Cret", where you will take the path on the right signposted "Cammino Balteo" that leads to the hamlet of "Domianaz" 720m (1st water point), you will arrive at the little church passing through the village, a little further on you will take a beautiful mule track on the left that climbs about 700m to the village of Nissod (1400m).

The last stretch to Nissod (2nd RESTAURANT and ARRIVAL point of the MZV 5.5 km 850 D+) will follow the path through the middle of the village houses and past the Nissod Church. When you reach the square, you will continue to the right on a dirt road for a few hundred metres, then take the path on the right that leads to the "Tsesallet" hut 1740 m (3rd RESTAURANT). At the hut of "Tsesallet" the routes separate, that of the Monte Zerbion Skyrace 18 km will turn left to continue uphill along a dirt road towards the meadows of the "Francou" pasture 2050 m, while that of the Monte Zerbion Skyrace 22 km and Monte Zerbion Vertical will turn right, you will continue on a flat path for about 300/400 m and then attack the famous final climb in the "Lévò" gully (1.8 km with 1000 m D+) which will lead to the summit of Monte Zerbion 2722 m (4th RESTORE and ARRIVAL point of the Monte Zerbion Vertical 2200 D+).

From here a spectacular panoramic descent along the ridge of Mount Zerbion will begin, which will first lead to the meadows of the "Francou" pasture 2050 m (5th RESTORE for the MZS 22 km and 4th for the MZS 18 km) and then along a dirt road to the village of Promiod 1492 m (6th RESTORE for the MZS 22 km and 5th RESTORE for the MZS 18 km). Descending along a beautiful mule track that runs along the entire side of the mountain, you will arrive at the hamlet of "Conoz" where you will have to cover approximately a little more than 1 km to end your effort. Arriving at the Church of Châtillon, the athletes will descend on a spectacular flight of steps leading to the centre of the village, where they will have the last 100 m to walk among the public.
